This quiz is all about the European Union. Specifically, the countries of Europe should be divided into different groups. These groups are: member, candidate country and no candidate country. If an european country is an EU member, you should assign it to the appropriate year in which it became an EU member. In this quiz you can prove your political knowledge and show how well you keep up to date on Europe!

The European Union is a federation of states that currently has 28 members. Another five states are considered candidates. The EU emerged from the EEC (European Economic Community). This was founded in 1950 by only six countries at the time. After that, there were always extensions of the number of members. In 1992, the Treaty of Maastricht finally established the EU. Previously, the Union served only economic areas, which now also extended to political and partly supranational areas. 19 of the 28 member states even share a common currency, the euro. It was followed by other treaties such as the Treaty of Amsterdam, Nice or Lisbon.
